Club Midi Showcase – Part 1
Line-Up: Gescu, RQZ
CLUB MIDI RETURN TO SUPERMARKET FOR THE SECOND INSTALLMENT
When Romanian institution Club Midi first set their sights on the Swiss capital, the result was Club Midi Manifest: a 35 hour marathon of pure Romanian talent. The event advanced a new concept for the Cluj based club and label, and excelled in every way possible. Club Midi’s second Swiss excursion couldn’t come sooner.
For two days (Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of November) the Club Midi crew will once again descend on Zurich’s Supermarket to satisfy the appetites of an audience with a fine ear for electronic music and an eagerness to have their boundaries pushed. As September’s event affirmed, the Swiss and Romanian electronic institutions are an astonishingly sleek match. The commanding baselines and mind-melting, organic textures of the Romanian sound are the perfect accompaniment to Supermarket’s carefully curated vibe. The minimal genre is geared towards an immersive listening experience, one that is naturally afforded by Supermarket’s intimate setting and its KV2 Audio fully analogue sound system. The design of the space itself further adds to the experience: with brick-walled masonry and a concrete floor, the music can truly take centre stage.
With big shoes to fill, the schedule for the Club Midi Showcase does not disappoint. On the Friday, Club Midi resident RQZ and Sunrise’s heavyweight Gescu will be holding down the fort. It goes without saying that the two will be showcasing an impressive catalog of released and unreleased gems, heating up the weekend with an exploration of the Romanian sound and beyond.
Day 2 of the showcase is an all-star affair. Midi Records founder and mainstay Mihigh will be going b2b with dancefloor connoisseur Charlie. Those who saw the two play separately at the first instalment will be particularly excited to experience their mischievous selections and dexterous mixing collectively as they share the decks. Joining them on the lineup, is Paul K and Zefzeed, two very familiar names to those in the know. Expect two immersive and layered sets of body-moving grooves.
The event may wrap up on Sunday morning, but something tells us this is going to be one that stays with you for much, much longer. This will be one for the ages, don’t miss it.
