Das 14. Norient Festival fragt: Wie leben wir in einer zerbrochenen Welt – durch Filme, Poesie, Musik, Klang, Stille, Geschichten, Lachen und Streit?

Drei Tage lang bewegen wir uns vom Persönlichen zum Geopolitischen – von Gaza nach Delhi, vom Schweizer Jodeln zum westafrikanischen Trommeln, von Sufi-Poesie zu Protestgesängen, von indischer Klassik zu basslastigen Clubnächten bis hin zur Stille von Wildschweinen, die sich im Dickicht verstecken. Wir zoomen vom Einzelnen zum Vielfältigen und fragen: Wie stellen wir uns die Welt der Zukunft vor? Wie leben, bestehen, trauern, denken, gestalten und navigieren wir Unterschiede und Konflikte? Welche Risse bleiben offen – und welche neuen Welten beginnen durch sie zu klingen? Während ein Schwerpunkt des Festivals, kuratiert von der künstlerischen Co-Leiterin Suvani Suri (Delhi), Klang-Communities, Fragilitäten, Zuhören als Denken und Widerstand nachzeichnet, erkundet der andere Schwerpunkt – kuratiert vom künstlerischen Co-Leiter Philipp Rhensius (Berlin) – die Bereiche, in denen Poesie zu flackern beginnt: Was wäre, wenn Poesie Zukünfte hörbar macht, bevor sie eintreten?

Am Samstag übernehmen wir den Dachstock in der Reitschule Bern für zehn Stunden voller Konzerte, Club-Sets und Stimmen. Eine Veranstaltung, geprägt von aufstrebenden Schweizer Künstler*innen, dem visionären Duo Ego Death, einem fesselnden Streichquartett und DJs sowie Live-Acts aus aller Welt.

The 14. Norient Festival asks how to live in a fractured world – through films, poetry, music, and sound; through listening, silence, stories, laughter, and even disagreement?

Over three days, we move from the personal to the geopolitical – from Gaza to Delhi, from Swiss yodeling to West African drumming, from Sufi poetry to protest chants, from Indian classical music to bass-heavy club nights, to the silence of wild boars hiding. As we zoom in and out from the particular to multitudes, we ask, how do we imagine the world to be? How do we live, persist, grieve, think, make, and navigate differences and conflict? What cracks stay open, and what new worlds begin to sound through them?
While one festival focus, curated by artistic co-director Suvani Suri (Delhi), traces sonic communities, fragilities, listening as thinking and resistance, the other focus – curated by artistic co-director Philipp Rhensius (Berlin) – explores the zones where poetry starts to flicker, asking, what if poetry makes futures audible before they happen?

On Saturday, we take over Dachstock at Reitschule Bern for ten hours of concerts, club sets, and voices. An event shaped by up-and-coming Swiss artists, the visionary duo Ego Death, a captivating string quartet, and DJs along with live acts from around the globe.
